Welcome to The Oerik Dispatch, a fan publication devoted to the World of Greyhawk, classic fantasy role-playing games, and the old-school gaming hobby.

This website exists to share adventures, campaign material, articles, reviews, miniatures, maps, and other resources inspired by the setting that first captured my imagination many years ago. If these pages inspire someone to gather friends around a table and begin a new Greyhawk campaign, then this project has accomplished its purpose.

Adventures Dark and Deep

My Greyhawk campaign uses Adventures Dark and Deep, created by Joseph Bloch, as its primary rules system.

Joseph’s work developing Adventures Dark and Deep, together with his writing and research as the Greyhawk Grognard, played a major role in inspiring me to return to Greyhawk after many years away from the game. His work reminded me why I loved the setting in the first place and encouraged me to begin a new campaign and build a new gaming group.

Unless otherwise noted, the adventures, NPCs, monsters, treasures, and rules material published on this website are written to be compatible with Adventures Dark and Deep. The material is created primarily for the benefit of the Game Master and players in my own campaigns, though I hope other referees and players will find it useful.

My Greyhawk

Every campaign is a little different.

The Greyhawk presented on this website is built upon the foundation established by the World of Greyhawk Fantasy World Setting Folio and the World of Greyhawk Fantasy Game Setting boxed set, commonly called the Gold Box.

My campaign timeline assumes Common Year 576. Events published after that point, including the Greyhawk Wars and later official developments, generally do not occur in my campaign unless specifically noted.

Additional information may be drawn from other published Greyhawk sources where appropriate. The site may also expand upon those sources with original material intended to remain consistent with the history, tone, and spirit of the setting.

My goal is not to replace Greyhawk, but to build upon the foundation created by Gary Gygax and the many designers who contributed to the setting over the years.

Artificial Intelligence

Many of the illustrations, layouts, miniature concepts, maps, drafts, and design elements on this website were created or refined with the assistance of artificial intelligence.

I am not a professional artist, illustrator, graphic designer, or writer. AI gives me tools that help bring my ideas to life and makes projects such as The Oerik Dispatch and OERIK Magazine possible.

Some people use the phrase “AI slop” as a criticism of AI-generated work. I understand why that criticism exists. My goal is not to flood the internet with unreviewed material. Every article, image, layout, and design presented here is selected, reviewed, edited, revised, and directed by me. AI is part of my creative process, but it does not replace the research, judgment, work, or enthusiasm behind the project.

Artists, illustrators, cartographers, editors, designers, and other creators who enjoy Greyhawk and would be interested in contributing or collaborating are welcome to contact me.
